A Memory…Forever

When I saw this video again, it brought back the same emotions that I felt a year ago when I first saw it. The power of a coach to touch a life. Listen to every word. It was the coach who came up with the idea to let J Mac play. He wasn’t pressured into it, he just loved him and knew how much he loved the game.

You can’t do that unless you connect, unless you live your life for others. And his reward was a blessing that will last a lifetime.

Sometimes you have to take a chance. Remember now, he put him in with 4 minutes to play, not just 1 minute as a token gesture. And I also have to give credit to the other team and their coach. If you look at the video, you actually see them basically letting Jason shoot.

There was something special in that gym that night, all started by a coach who cares.

A coach who values the validity of a player over his own reputation displays character that has more to do with core values than a win. A win goes into the record books while a player’s value lasts forever in the heart.
